What You Will Do The Sigma Operations Group (Sigma-OPS) is seeking an energetic, customer-focused individual to join our Programmatic Security team. The Operations Support Specialist will provide professional programmatic security and operational support, including but not limited to supporting the protection of classified information as well as managing physical and electronic access to the organization's resources. The selected candidate will be expected to operate with initiative, professionalism, dependability, and flexibility at an advanced level within a dynamic organization. Sigma Division focuses on materials science and engineering, emphasizing metallurgical processes and research in support of the experimental testing program at Los Alamos. Sigma-OPS is a customer-based group that supports the programmatic operational needs of the Sigma Division. Operations Support Specialist 2 ($71,200 - $112,900) Make recommendations for security and safeguards measures, techniques and methods to assure and improve the protection of classified interests and assets. Applies Laboratory policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues related to security operations of moderately complex scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. Recommends and coordinates the acquisition, installation or replacement of equipment and material designed to increase efficiency of security operations. Provides backup support and assists other security personnel to fulfill projects and organizational objectives. Provides direct support and collaborates with institutional and programmatic security personnel to achieve project and organizational goals. Makes necessary changes to training material and guidance provided to staff as security related policies and procedures change. Understands and adheres to Laboratory and regulatory guidance and governance specific to physical security. Operations Support Specialist 3 ($85,900 - $139,900) In addition to what is outlined at the lower level, at this level: Provides high-level service to internal and external customers while overseeing proper engagement with collaborative and support entities to ensure end-to-end delivery of security-related tasks. Responsible for developing, improving, and implementing necessary changes to training materials and guidance provided to staff as security-related policies and procedures change.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements: Operations Support Specialist 2

Ability to obtain a Q clearance which typically requires US citizenship. Knowledge of operational processes with a strong emphasis on security and safeguards policies, practices, and procedures in a laboratory setting. Demonstrated experience working effectively under pressure of deadlines, interruptions, and changing priorities, and the ability to follow multiple tasks to completion. Demonstrated experience in decision making, organizing, and prioritizing tasks, and taking initiative. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; demonstrated ability to interact with all levels of internal and external personnel and customers; strong customer service and teaming skills. Demonstrated experience adhering to established security requirements and compliance protocols in an operational environment.

Operations Support Specialist 3 In addition to what is outlined at the lower level, the following is required for the level 3:

Demonstrated knowledge in operational security, including access control and classified material handling. Must understand security-related impacts of documentation, training, and facility operations. Demonstrated ability to assist in leading and coordinating security-related operational support projects, working closely with the Security Team Lead and other stakeholders to ensure successful execution. Advanced knowledge in using proper safety and security policies to resolve complex issues.

Education/Experience at lower level : Position requires a Associate's Degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution and 4 years of directly related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

Education/Experience at higher level : Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution and 5 years of directly related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. At this level, post graduate course work may be desirable.

Desired Qualifications:

An active Q clearance Experience with LANL specific security and safeguards policies and procedures Familiarity with the Sigma facility and the Sigma and MST organizations Advanced knowledge of Classified Matter Protection and Control and Access Control related procedures as it relates to DOE and LANL Experience with handling the shipment and receipt of incoming and outgoing packages, including proper packing and labeling. Work Location : The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

Position Commitment : Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Directive 206.2

- Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.

Clearance: Q

(Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.

*Eligibility Requirements:

To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

New-Employment Drug Test : The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.

Regular Position : Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
