Job Summary:

The Transformer Assembler I is responsible for performing final assembly operations on electrical transformers following prescribed methods and standard procedures. This role involves assembling, installing, and adjusting various transformer components while ensuring product quality and compliance with safety and operational standards. The ideal candidate should be physically capable of handling repetitive manual tasks and working in varying positions throughout the day.

Key Responsibilities: Perform final assembly operations in work centers such as tank-up, casing, small parts, vacuum chamber, cover bander, palletizing, and final assembly. Attach and install component parts and sub-assemblies to transformer tanks, including leads, bushings, brackets, fuses, switches, nameplates, arrestors, labels, stencils, and bands. Place and anchor core/coil assemblies into transformer tanks. Conduct hand assembly, fitting, and adjusting operations of a repetitive nature. Retrieve, assemble, and attach covers to transformer units. Load, operate, and unload the vacuum system. Operate punch press and small power hand tools as required. Perform touch-up painting and rework nonconforming parts or products. Follow written operating instructions, production schedules, and safety procedures. Use manual and powered hand tools and operate a hoist. Work in various physical positions, including bending, stooping, reaching, and stepping between levels. Manually lift 15–35 pounds regularly and perform twisting, turning, and pulling motions as needed. Operate an industrial lift truck when required. Maintain a medium strength rating and meet visual and physical requirements for the job. Adhere to all PPE and safety guidelines. Required Skills:

Ability to read and comprehend written materials such as job instructions and production schedules. Ability to record handwritten information and perform basic math functions. Physically capable of performing manual assembly work and handling medium-weight materials.

Preferred Skills:

Prior manufacturing or assembly experience.

High School Diploma or GED.

Education:

No formal education required (must meet reading and math competency requirements).

High School Diploma or GED preferred.
