Hardware Program Manager
Microsoft Silicon, Cloud Hardware, and Infrastructure Engineering (SCHIE) is responsible for powering Microsoft’s Cloud by engineering silicon to cloud‑optimal systems enabling our customers to achieve more. SCHIE delivers the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft’s over 200 online businesses including Copilot, Bing, MSN, Office 365, Xbox Live, Teams, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform globally with our server and data center infrastructure, security and compliance, operations, globalization, and manageability solutions. Base pay range
$100,600.00/yr - $215,400.00/yr
Responsibilities
- Drive virtual teams of functional leads including members from hardware and software engineering, sourcing, supply chain, networking and datacenter operations from documenting a clear Plan‑of‑Record (POR) for new product development to leading the project team to meet stated milestones.
- Drive the development, planning & execution of a holistic cross‑functional product development and/or launch strategy.
- Provide technical leadership and identify technical risks.
- Collaborate with internal and external technology development partners to form a cohesive development plan.
- Have an in‑depth understanding of the product technical requirements, milestones, deliverables, and interdependencies for establishing an accurate and effective project infrastructure. Leverage experience and engineering skills to solve problems, fill gaps and achieve objectives through a cross‑functional team.
- Ensure effective communication and escalation of risks and dependencies while ensuring timely decisions are being made.
- Hold accountability for team and most or all portions of the work to deliver best‑in‑class architecture solutions.
- Engage subject matter experts across disciplines to deliver the best outcomes.
- Conduct risk management efforts in new product introduction, scenario planning and mitigation of risks, recovery from risks.
- Communicate to and regularly interact with senior leadership, highlighting risks across functional teams and providing recommendations to support product‑level decisions.
- Operate effectively in ambiguity. Apply process where it creates value, and design process where it’s needed. Recognize the situations where each approach is most appropriate.
- Ensure cross‑functional alignment: generate clarity, track towards development milestones and overall readiness for all new data‑center infrastructure development, launch, and deployments.
- Use program management tools and communication methods to ensure common understanding of program plan‑of‑record to stakeholders.
- Monitor and measure engineering impact, performance results and process efficiency. Apply AI tools to streamline processes.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree AND 2+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience.
- 1+ years of experience managing cross‑functional and/or cross‑team projects.
- 1+ years of experience in design and delivery of HW engineering products.
Other Requirements
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements is required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings. This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree AND 4+ years of experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience.
- 4+ years of experience managing cross‑functional and/or cross‑team projects.
- 1+ year(s) of experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos).
- 4+ years of technical program management or project management experience or a technical role with systems engineering experience, preferably in Cloud silicon, server design, accelerators, networking solutions, firmware & SW development and deployment, and systems solutions from cradle to grave.
- 3+ years of experience in managing a team of engineering and/or technical operations professionals responsible for critical systems and operations in a matrix organization.
- Experience with hardware, firmware & software (system & application stack) interfaces across all modules in a system.
- Knowledge of high‑volume server design and manufacturing is desired.
- Knowledge about datacenters & fleet operation at scale.
