Ham Produce and Seafood Inc was established in 1981 as a full‑line fresh fruit and vegetable distributor and evolved into one of Hawaii’s largest companies now offering an extensive line of products including fresh fish, frozen seafood and frozen meat items.

Role Description

The Accounting Manager/General Manager supports the CFO/COO in managing the company’s accounting processes, financial reporting, and ERP system operations. This role combines hands‑on accounting responsibilities with system management and cross‑departmental operations.

Responsibilities

  • Review and verify journal entries for A/P Invoice Verifications, Receipt‑to‑Stock Entries, and A/R Batch Receipt Entries.
  • Review and post A/P invoice entries, ensuring proper documentation and accuracy.
  • Maintain fixed asset schedules and coordinate with the tax accountant for reporting needs.
  • Maintain capital asset schedules and record journal entries for fixed asset purchases.
  • Prepare and issue monthly financial statements and assist with year‑end reporting.
  • Maintain general ledger accuracy through account analysis and reconciliation.
  • Reconcile A/P pre‑invoice inventory, freight, prepaid accounts, and other related items.
  • File reports and handle communications for insurance claims and documentation.
  • Perform month‑end and year‑end journal entries as part of the close process.

Operations Support

  • Provide monthly support for warehouse inventory physical counts, ensuring accurate reporting and costing.
  • Execute peripheral equipment orders and reconcile billings.
  • Assist in payroll processing, ADP InTouch DX device troubleshooting and timesheet corrections, and manual check issuance.
  • Support cross‑department collaboration to ensure financial accuracy and workflow consistencies.

ERP & System Management

  • Serve as a key user and champion of the ERP system, assisting with setup, testing, and improvements.
  • Revamp and maintain fish department barcoding and product codes for accurate tracking and reporting.
  • Collaborate with IT and management to create and update Crystal Reports for operational and financial needs.
  • Support ongoing process improvement and data accuracy within the ERP system.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • 4–6 years of progressive accounting experience; manufacturing or distribution industry preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, reconciliations, and month‑end close procedures.
  • Experience working with ERP systems (Champion ERP preferred) and report development tools (e.g., Crystal Reports).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and general accounting software.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively across departments.
