Scope:

The Accounting Associate supports the North America Accounting Shared Services group in the accuracy and completeness of the CooperVision, CooperSurgical and CooperCompanies financial statements and routine deliverables by working collaboratively with team members, management, and internal stakeholders.

Job Summary:

The Accounting Associate supports the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting of Cooper. Responsibilities include preparing journal entries and account reconciliations, uploading data, investigating variances, and performing other assigned tasks. The position requires cross-functional collaboration and occasional interaction with external professionals. Successful candidates will be detail-oriented, highly organized, and team-focused.

Responsibilities

  • Perform monthly financial close activities, including compiling and preparing journal entries, preparing account reconciliations and solutioning errors or issues in the general ledger, validating intercompany transactions, and performing data uploads into various software systems while ensuring the accuracy of the upload.
  • Prepare routine and ad-hoc reports for leadership, sales, and other departments using some complex Excel functions
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting across the organization.
  • Maintain compliance with US GAAP and internal policies and procedures.
  • Support broader initiatives through ad-hoc reporting and presentations as directed.
  • Compile, review, verify, and analyze large volumes of financial data while demonstrating awareness of relevant financial statement assertions.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to support business processes and strategic initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance is required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1+ years in an accounting/finance role (including internships and other roles).
  • Desire or in process of attaining a professional license/certificate (i.e. CPA, CMA, MBA or the like).
  • An organized and professional individual with the ability to multi-task in a collaborative environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with employees, customers, and external professionals at all levels
  • Ability to complete job functions in multiple complex software and systems
  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills
  • Desire to learn Microsoft Office products (Excel, Outlook, OneNote, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to apply knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Prolonged sitting in front of a computer.
  • Typical office environment.
  • May need to work holidays, occasional evenings, or weekends to maintain an expected performance level.
  • Onsite 5-days’ a week in the office.

For U.S. locations that require disclosure of compensation, the starting base pay for this role is between $ 51,392.00 and $68,522.00. per year and may include cost of living adjustments. The actual base pay includes many factors and is subject to change and modification in the future.This position may also be eligible for other types of compensation and benefits.
