Manufacturing Engineer

West Hartford, CT

Legrand is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join the Electrical Wiring Systems Wiremold Team. The Engineer will develop, implement, maintain, and improve manufacturing processes to support safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and cost objectives. The role reports to the Value Stream Manager.

What You Will Do

  • Develop manufacturing processes by studying product requirements, researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors.
  • Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
  • Assure product and process quality by designing testing methods, testing finished-products and process capabilities, establishing standards, and confirming manufacturing processes.
  • Evaluate manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators.
  • Prepare process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Provide technical assistance to maintenance and operations as necessary to meet business needs.
  • Provide manufacturing engineering information by answering questions and requests.
  • Maintain product and company reputation by complying with government regulations.
  • Develop and test effective automated and manual systems.
  • Resolve issues and delays in production.
  • Keep equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services, following manufacturer’s instructions and established procedures, and managing special service.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Education and Experience

  • B.S. degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 1-3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.

Skills and Competencies

  • Previous experience as a manufacturing engineer or similar role.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, fabrication methods, and tool design.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing equipment and quality assurance techniques.
  • Commitment to health and safety standards and environmental regulations.
  • Well‑versed in relevant software (e.g., CAD, MS Office).
  • Problem‑solving ability.
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing tools and concepts.
