Coverage needed: Daily 6am-6pm (end time varies) Weekend coverage 1:3. Would include rounding with surgeon, vein harvesting if needed, first assisting in OR if needed, procedures if needed and if skillset is there (A-line, central line, thoracentesis, and chest tube placement), seeing new consults if needed. Saturday and Sunday would include daily rounding with surgeon. Currently the CT surgeon takes all first calls (nights/weekends). During day hours the PA/NP would field some pages re: patient care. Saturday and Sunday after rounds/orders/notes are completed they can leave the hospital (in-house call is not required). They could get called back in during the night/weekend days for emergencies or for additional assistance with patients.
