4 days ago Be among the first 25 applicants. TrendHR is seeking a Staff Accountant to join a well-known and established company right here in the Rockwall area. This role is a great opportunity to build your professional career locally while gaining hands-on experience in compliance, payroll tax, and financial reporting. You’ll play a key role in supporting the accounting team with month-end close and ensuring timely, accurate financial statements.
Responsibilities
- Reconcile and submit weekly, monthly, quarterly federal, state, and local taxes on deadline.
- Prepare and file W-2s and other required reports (monthly, quarterly, annual) accurately and on time.
- Monitor and manage new state set-ups/closers to ensure compliance.
- Reconcile payroll software with agency records; make adjustments and process timely bill/credit backs.
- Research and resolve notices, making tax adjustments as needed.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and strengthen internal controls.
- Research state tax jurisdictions for compliance requirements.
- Maintain PEO license requirements.
- Assist with month-end close (bank reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, prepaid schedules, reconciliation discrepancies).
- Prepare monthly financials and provide support for related inquiries.
Experience and Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required).
- Minimum 2 years of accounting experience, with payroll tax background preferred.
Skills and Qualifications
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with QuickBooks.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations.
- High attention to detail with a strong sense of urgency.
- Strong communication skills with ability to work effectively with external agencies.
- Team-oriented with discipline to meet deadlines.
