Rainmaker Recruiting is hiring: Cost Accountant in Houston

Our client in Southeast Houston, manufacturing company is seeking a driven and detail-oriented Cost Accountant to join our finance and accounting team. The role is open due to exponential growth. As a Cost Accountant, you will play a critical role in managing and analyzing cost-related data, focusing on standard costing and project cost accounting. You will collaborate closely with operations, engineering, and the finance and accounting team to ensure accurate cost tracking, support strategic decisions, and contribute to financial reporting and forecasting efforts.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and analyze standard cost systems for manufacturing operations
• Track and report on project costs, including labor, materials, and overhead
• Partner with operations to monitor variances and recommend corrective actions
• Perform cost roll-ups, margin analysis, and inventory valuation
• Support month-end close with cost accounting entries and analysis
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
• Collaborate with the Controller and CFO on strategic cost initiatives
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and GAAP

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field (required)
• 3+ years of relevant experience in standard cost accounting and project cost accounting
• Prior experience in a manufacturing environment highly preferred
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented environment
