Location: Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center (MMAC), 6500 South MacArthur Blvd., Oklahoma City, OK 73169
Compensation: $26.89/Hour
Position Summary: The Graphic Artist (GA) supports the FAA Corporate Training Solutions Division at the MMAC by creating high-quality visual materials that enhance technical training content.
Primary Responsibilities
Graphic Design & Development
- Design and develop graphics, illustrations, and visual elements that support FAA training curricula across a variety of media formats.
- Create and refine designs from conceptual sketches, photographs, or general descriptions to meet specific instructional and technical requirements.
- Execute the complete graphic production process from initial concept to final product integration.
- Incorporate technical drawings, diagrams, charts, schematics, and photographs into instructional materials, ensuring clarity and accuracy of technical information.
- Ensure consistency of branding, formatting, and visual standards across all FAA training materials.
Collaboration & Production
- Work collaboratively with instructional designers, writers, editors, and multimedia specialists to produce cohesive and professional training products.
- Communicate effectively with team members to ensure that visual elements align with instructional goals and FAA content standards.
- Maintain organized records, version control, and archives of completed graphics and supporting materials.
- Perform graphic file adjustments, merging, and format conversions as required for publication or integration into various platforms.
Technical Tools & Proficiency
- Utilize graphic design and illustration tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), CorelDRAW, Microsoft Visio, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Perform digital photo manipulation, enhancement, and preparation of graphics for print or electronic distribution.
- Maintain and update a graphics library and documentation of design processes.
Education
- High School Diploma or GED
Specialized Training
- Documented formal training in graphic illustration, design, or visual communications.
Experience
At least three years of practical, verifiable experience within the past five years in:
- Graphic design (electronic and print)
- Technical illustration
- Photographic editing and enhancement
- Integration of photographs, graphics, and illustrations into instructional or technical publications
- Preparation of camera‑ready materials for publishing and printing
Specialized Experience
- Adobe® Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
- Corel® Suite (CorelDRAW, Painter, etc.)
- Microsoft® Visio
- Microsoft® Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Strong creative and technical design skills with attention to accuracy and detail.
- Ability to translate complex technical information into clear, visually engaging graphics.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills for collaboration within a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting established deadlines.
- Familiarity with FAA or other federal training standards preferred.
Additional Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Must be able to pass a background investigation and meet FAA security requirements.
- Ability to work on-site at the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center (MMAC) and collaborate with FAA staff and contractors.
