Position Summary
The Vice President of Marketing will be the primary leader responsible for developing Boston Children’s Hospital's brand, shaping and advancing its reputation, market presence, and brand equity on local, national, and international stages. This role will drive integrated marketing, digital, and brand strategies that accelerate growth, attract patients and families, strengthen referral networks, support clinical and research program expansion, and reinforce the system's standing as a global leader in pediatric healthcare.
Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Brand Leadership
Define and steward a powerful, differentiated brand identity and narrative that advances the organization's reputation across all markets and audiences—including patients, families, providers, donors, partners, and policymakers. Maintain a repository of content that clearly articulates the organization's value proposition, tied to those audiences.
Strategic Marketing
Direct Market Research and Analytics
Direct market research, analytics, and competitive analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and risks, including uncovering customer needs and journeys, developing segmentation, and sizing markets. Conduct ad-hoc market assessments to support Strategy and Business Development opportunities.
Develop Marketing Plans
Create effective marketing plans for existing and new services and solutions in collaboration with clinical leadership, philanthropic leadership, and other growth-focused teams to capitalize on opportunities to expand regionally, nationally, and internationally.
Execute Marketing Plans and Campaigns
Deploy marketing tactics that optimize impact in alignment with strategic health system priorities, using the right media mix across social, AI, experiential, and traditional channels. Ensure top-tier levels of creative and content. Guide the deployment of marketing technology to enable the defined consumer experience strategy, including CRM, cookies, advanced analytics models, and content sources.
Monitor Performance
Establish robust KPIs, performance dashboards, and ROI measures for marketing investments, ensuring disciplined resource allocation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Team & Culture Leadership
Build, inspire, and retain a contemporary, high-performing marketing team with expertise in brand, digital, creative, and data science; foster a culture of innovation, agility, and excellence.
Enterprise Collaboration
Serve as a trusted advisor to senior executives and a collaborative partner across clinical, research, philanthropic, and operational areas, ensuring marketing is a strategic driver of enterprise objectives.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or related field; Master's degree preferred
15+ years of progressive marketing and brand leadership experience in healthcare, academic medicine, or complex consumer-focused industries
Proven track record in building and scaling enterprise brands with national and/or international reach
Demonstrated success in leading digital transformation and leveraging data to drive measurable outcomes
Exceptional leadership presence with the ability to influence at the executive level and across a highly matrixed organization
Strong financial and business acumen, with the ability to link marketing investments to enterprise growth and impact
