APRN Hospitalist
– Mount Sinai Medical Center We are looking for an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) to join our hospital medicine team. The APRN Hospitalist provides high-quality, timely patient care throughout the continuum of hospital medicine, working collaboratively with physicians, interdisciplinary staff, and patients.
Position Responsibilities
Provide hospital care within the scope of practice to persons in collaboration with and supervision (direct or indirect) of the hospital medicine/critical care medicine physician.
Obtain patient histories and perform physical examinations.
Order appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures for the patients presenting problems, explaining necessity, preparation, nature, and anticipated effects to the patient; and interpret laboratory and diagnostic procedures.
Timely documentation in medical records and appropriate systems all findings of patient encounters noting pertinent positive and negative findings, ordered diagnostic tests, therapeutic procedures, patient outcomes, and treatment plans.
Perform therapeutic procedures designated by supervising physician and within the scope of the or nurse practitioner practice.
Perform diagnostic procedures designated by supervising physician and within the scope of the physician assistant practice.
Develops appropriate plans of care in collaboration with the hospital medicine physician for patients arising from critical analysis of histories, physical examinations, and diagnostic testing or procedures.
Compliance with all facility, medical staff, and MSMC Health policies, and procedures.
Actively participates in the building of good rapport with staff and colleagues through attendance of hospital medicine department clinician staff meetings, communicating in respectful and courteous manner to staff, and committing to teamwork consistent with the mission/vision of MSMC and its affiliates.
Attendance and participation of medical staff, allied health staff, and/or hospital committees.
Assist Medical Directors, supervisors, MSMC affiliated personnel, and/or hospital personnel in collection or analysis of quality or dashboard data.
May at times serve as a proctor of MSMC Health new hire or graduate NP Clinician.
Initiates and/or assists in Medical Emergency activities on the assigned area.
Assists the Office Coordinator or Physician in assessing, evaluating and documenting competency of all nursing staff members.
Provides input regarding administrative or clinical performance of staff.
Manages environment of care by assessing patient for fall risks and other risk factors; ensuring area is safe and reports deficiencies to Office Coordinator or Physician.
Identifies areas needing improvement and actively participates in department's performance improvement program.
Provides feedback to Office Coordinator or Physician on an on-going basis concerns, improvements, changes, etc.
Promotes surveillance, prevention, and control of infection by using and teaching hygienic practices.
Attends and actively participates in departmental meetings and in-service programs, providing positive suggestions and input.
Qualifications
Bilingual - English/Spanish preferred.
Two years’ experience in critical care.
12‑hour shift 7 on 7 off (7 pm to 7 am). 7‑on‑7 schedule.
Current APRN licensure in Florida; BLS and ACLS required.
Completion of a nationally certified nurse practitioner program required.
