We are currently partnered with a Series A FinTech firm that specializes in developing credit / banking products for underserved communities globally in search for a Senior / Staff Data Scientist based out of the Bay Area to join their team.
What You’ll Do
Build, validate, and deploy credit underwriting and risk models using a variety of statistical and machine learning techniques
Design data pipelines and scoring systems in partnership with engineering to ensure reliable model performance in production
Develop frameworks for feature generation, model monitoring, and ongoing performance evaluation
Collaborate with product and finance teams to translate business objectives into measurable, data-driven strategies
Analyze credit performance, portfolio trends, and customer segments to identify actionable insights
Help shape internal data science best practices and mentor junior team members as the team grows
What We’re Looking For
6–10+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, or quantitative modeling
Proven background in credit risk, lending, or underwriting (consumer or SMB)
Strong proficiency in Python, SQL, and modern data science libraries (e.g. pandas, scikit-learn, PyTorch, XGBoost)
Experience with statistical modeling, model validation, and data-driven risk management
Comfort working across data pipelines, model training, and deployment workflows
Ability to think strategically about tradeoffs between risk, revenue, and operational complexity
Prior experience in a startup or high-growth environment where you’ve built from scratch
