Summary The St. Cloud VA Health Care System seeks a Chief of Dental to perform a full range of dental procedures, administer the service line, and maintain clinical excellence.

Duties

Provides administrative and clinical oversight of the Dental Clinic, including staff dentists, specialty dentists, hygienists, assistants, and administrative support.

Determines clinical needs for Dental Community Care Request for Services (RFS).

Performs full range of dental procedures to treat commonly encountered dental diseases and health problems.

Prevents, diagnoses and treats diseases, injuries, and malformations of the teeth, jaws and human oral cavity.

Develops performance metrics for all provider classifications to drive performance and desired behavior.

Engages in quality improvement activities, including compliance and VA credentialing/privileging processes.

Utilizes customer service data for service recovery and improvement strategies.

Prepares and analyzes data through various reports to facilitate departmental management.

Ensures compliance with accreditation standards and other survey/oversight entities.

Requirements

U.S. citizen or qualified non‑citizen applicant.

Proficient in written and spoken English.

Pass pre‑employment physical examination and background/security investigation.

Must be authorized for background investigation and, if required, drug testing.

Provide required identification documentation (e.g., REAL ID compliant driver’s license).

Complete onboarding and required training modules.

Participate in the seasonal influenza vaccination program.

Serve a probationary period if designated.

Qualifications

Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from an accredited school recognized by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs.

Completed, or currently completing, a residency program in general practice or specialty, or comparable experience treating medically compromised patients.

Current, full and unrestricted license to practice dentistry in a U.S. state, territory, or Commonwealth.

Maintain current registration in the state of licensure.

Preferred: Two‑year ADA‑approved dental residency or ≥3 years of professional practice experience.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification if performing conscious sedation.

Work Schedule Monday – Friday, 7:30 am – 4:00 pm. Telework and virtual work not available.
