Position Summary

Reporting to Associate Vice President for University Advancement the Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations CFR will be primarily responsible for securing gifts in support of institutional priorities from corporations and foundations. The Director will work strategically with university leadership faculty and constituent programs to successfully meet corporate and foundation goals and alert campus units to relevant grant opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

Build and manage a portfolio of 80‑100 prospective corporate and foundation donors for major gift commitments including identification cultivation solicitation and stewardship conduct 20‑25 meaningful contacts per month and move prospects through the traditional cultivation cycle recorded in Raiser’s Edge NXT.

Prepare and implement an annual plan for corporate and foundation relations and participate in campaign strategy.

Collaborate with Office of Advancement and coordinate activities with other university offices.

Participate in committee activities and ensure development policies and safeguards function in the best interest of the university.

Collaborate with the Associate Vice President Sponsored Programs and college and unit colleagues to develop short‑ and long‑term objectives to meet goals.

Develop and manage key corporate and foundation relationships to secure gifts for the university.

Use a comprehensive strategic approach in development of corporate and foundation relations.

Develop relationships with university academic and constituent program leadership to understand priorities and identify appropriate support.

Focus on creating and submitting grant requests to fulfill approved opportunities and track requests.

Participate in special off‑ and on‑campus visits and special projects.

Perform other job‑related duties and special projects as assigned.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree and three 3 years of demonstrated success and increased responsibility as a grant writer or fundraiser of higher education or nonprofit institution. Additional education or experience in a related field demonstrating required knowledge skills and abilities may be substituted on a year‑for‑year basis.

Required Qualifications

Demonstrated ability to address the essential functions and identified knowledge skills and abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

Minimum five years related experience preferred with preference for grant writing as the main responsibility. Familiarity with the university environment and experience working with diverse populations. Ability to work in a fast‑paced academic environment. Technical fluency with Microsoft Office Professional Suite Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT and Google mail and calendaring programs.

Mandated Reporting and Training

This position may be considered a mandated reporter under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment. Additionally all CSU staff and faculty receive training annually on their obligations in responding to and reporting incidents of sexual harassment and sexual violence. Location and Employment Conditions

Working in the state of California is a condition of employment. Even if part or all of an employee’s assignment can be performed remotely the employee must maintain a permanent residence in the state of California. The employee must be able to accept on‑campus work assignment as assigned and come to campus when needed. This position is telecommute eligible work on‑site as scheduled or as requested and telecommute as scheduled.
