Instructional Support Technician II
Division of Academic Affairs, Biology Department, California State University Channel Islands Temporary appointment, anticipated through June 30, 2026, possible extension. Responsibilities & Duties
Comprehensive support for instructional programs at the undergraduate and graduate level. Lab operation and maintenance: obtain and calibrate equipment, prepare protocols, inoculate cultures, write SOPs, troubleshoot experiments. Lab safety: monitor regulated substances, dispose waste, record autoclave logs. Lab purchasing and maintenance: schedule preventive maintenance, acquire materials, maintain purchase log. Coordinate student assistants, participate in department meetings, perform related duties as assigned. Qualifications
Three years of instructional support experience or equivalent education and experience as described. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work independently. Knowledge of laboratory courses, safety procedures, Material Safety Data Sheets. Proficient computer skills including email, word processing, Adobe Acrobat. Bachelor's degree in Biology or related field preferred. Physical Demands
Frequent reaching, occasional lifting of 30-50 pounds, continuous use of hands, ability to stand/walk up to 20 minutes, etc. Background Check and Reporting
Background check required before any candidate can be offered a position. Mandated reporter under California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act. Hiring Range
