Position Overview Radiation Oncology provides therapeutic services to cancer patients ranging from pediatric to geriatric. This supervisory role oversees radiation therapists in the operation of CT/simulator, external beam machines, and HDR units. The position includes administrative duties such as chart rounds, IMRT reviews, department QA and CQI committees, billing coding, scheduling, and additional assignments as needed.
Key Responsibilities
60% – Administrative responsibilities (chart rounds, billing, scheduling, QA).
30% – Clinical responsibilities (patient treatment, equipment operation, safety).
10% – General responsibilities (team management, budget oversight).
Minimum Qualifications
Current California certification in Therapeutic Radiology and ARRT registration.
Bachelor’s degree in a related area or equivalent experience.
7 years of radiation therapy experience.
Proficiency with Linear Accelerators, simulators, brachytherapy equipment and safety procedures.
Knowledge of pediatric and high‑dose‑rate brachytherapy practices.
Ability to recognize and report patient adverse reactions and IV removal.
Management skills: staffing schedules, unit budget, unit leadership.
Prioritization and adaptability during workload changes, machine breakdowns, heavy volume, emergencies.
Problem solving and decision‑making skills with originality and creativity.
Understanding of Continuing Quality Improvement processes.
Discretion and confidentiality regarding staff salary, budget data, and departmental plans.
Knowledge of university and department policies or ability to learn.
Preferred Qualifications
IV Contrast Administration Certification.
Master’s degree.
Past supervisory/management experience.
Position Information
Salary Range: $9,500 – $19,150 per month.
Annual Salary: $114,000 – $229,800.
Grade: 26.
