Overview Georgetown University in Qatar (GU-Q) seeks energetic and enthusiastic individuals to serve as Student Affairs Coordinators. Three terms, each two years (August 2026 – June 2028), support a diverse, international campus community.

Key Accountabilities

Engage students individually and collectively to foster belonging and community.

Support GU‑Q diversity initiatives that promote cross‑cultural dialogue and inclusive programming.

Encourage and support student involvement in co‑curricular programs to develop planning, organization, communication, money management, creative problem‑solving, and self‑assessment skills.

Promote the use of Campus Groups (GU‑Q Engage) for departmental programs and events.

Coordinate and support signature programs and university‑wide traditions, contributing to a culture of care, creativity, and community.

Position 1: Student Affairs Coordinator – Spirit Central role in cultivating campus pride and enthusiasm.

Key Activities

Enhance and coordinate signature GU‑Q traditions (Hoya Welcome Week, End‑of‑Year Dinner, Georgetown Day, International Ball, Grill Outs, Open Mic Nights).

Strengthen athletics and recreational programs to encourage school pride, teamwork, and inclusive participation.

Collaborate with students and campus partners to refresh established activities and develop new approaches that make programs more engaging.

Identify ways to increase student involvement in campus traditions.

Maintain an environment where students feel inspired to participate in campus life.

Create innovative ways to spotlight student achievements and milestones across campus.

Serve as a visible, approachable presence at events, attending evening and weekend events as needed.

Position 2: Student Affairs Coordinator – Leadership Key Activities

Support the development of clubs, student government, Georgetown Leadership Track, Georgetown Ambassadors, and athletics.

Refine leadership programming to help students practice decision‑making, teamwork, and problem‑solving.

Collaborate with students to adapt existing programs so they reflect evolving student interests and community needs.

Promote pathways for students to translate leadership experiences on campus into academic, professional, and personal settings.

Track and celebrate student leadership achievements through recognition programs.

Provide logistical support and attend evening and weekend events as needed.

Position 3: Student Affairs Coordinator – Connectedness Key Activities

Strengthen initiatives that connect local, Qatari, and international students.

Enhance key programs (ESCAPE retreats, International Orientation, First‑Year Introduction, Student Affairs Iftars).

Develop and refine activities that encourage dialogue and collaboration among students from different backgrounds.

Collaborate with student leaders and organizations to keep community‑building programs relevant and impactful.

Foster spaces where students feel a sense of belonging.

Maintain ongoing relationships with student groups to respond to emerging community needs.

Actively seek ways to bridge cultural and social divides.

Provide logistical support and attend evening and weekend events as needed.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree.

Recent Georgetown University graduates (ideally within 2 years of graduation).

Leadership experience.

Mentorship, teaching or tutoring experience preferred.

Understanding of Georgetown University’s vision and mission for students.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Strong interpersonal and problem‑solving skills.

Demonstrated event‑planning and organization skills.

Ability to learn new policies and procedures, meet deadlines, and work under time pressure.

Proficiency in utilizing social media platforms (X, Facebook, Instagram, etc.).

Familiarity with PowerPoint, Excel, Adobe Photoshop and/or InDesign preferred.

Proficiency with MS Office and Google Apps.

Ability to work on various shifts and readiness to participate in evening and weekend events.
