This role will be responsible for the preparation of transportation planning and traffic engineering studies and reports as well as support plans, designs, and assisting with the management of junior staff. Projects include traffic analysis, roadway/traffic safety assessments, multi‑modal planning/design, parking planning and TDM studies. Although SLR’s planning team hub is currently in our New Haven, Connecticut office, project needs will extend throughout our other northeast U.S. offices, therefore position geography is flexible! We are SLR Consulting (US), a 500+ coast‑to‑coast team of advisory, environmental/engineering, and regulatory professionals. We deliver environmental and sustainability services to our clients through the integration of over 30 advisory, technical environmental, and engineering disciplines to help clients address some of their most complex challenges around sustainability. The salary range for this position is $85,000 - $95,000. Final agreed upon compensation will be commensurate with individual education, professional designation, experience, internal parity, and location.

Preparation of plans, studies, and analyses
Staff management
Meeting project schedules on‑budget
Collaborating across disciplines
Developing and communicating recommendations on diverse and complex assignments
Qualifications / Education / Memberships
Bachelor’s Degree in Transportation Engineering, Planning, or related field
Professional Engineering license or TPCB or similar certification (e.g., PTP, PTOE, RSP cert)
6+ years of related professional experience
Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to research, present and convey information clearly and concisely
Experience with software including HCS, SYNCHRO/SimTraffic, VISSIM, CADD, GIS
Familiarity with local, state, and federal guidelines/standards, policies, and procedures
Desire to lead and be at the forefront of the evolving field of transportation
Knowledge of emerging best practices/guidelines in transportation
Valid driver’s license
Critical thinker with strong communication skills (graphic, written, and interpersonal) are essential
Efficient, thorough, detail‑oriented, and dedicated to quality work
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
Ability to work in a collaborative team environment across numerous disciplines
