Overview
The Senior Medical Director of MaineHealth Pen Bay and Waldo Hospitals leads the development and implementation of strategic, operational, financial, and clinical initiatives that align with MaineHealth’s mission, vision, values, and strategic goals. In close partnership with the Senior Director of Practice Operations, this role advances quality, safety, regulatory, and growth initiatives across the MaineHealth Medical Group (MHMG) and fosters collaboration with regional and specialty leaders to ensure integrated care delivery.
Responsibilities
Partner with the Senior Director of Practice Operations to drive ambulatory care strategy, access, quality, patient experience, and finance across Pen Bay and Waldo locations.
Collaborate with regional and specialty leaders to align and integrate services, specialty councils, and medical group leadership, ensuring a fully integrated health system.
Provide physician leadership in planning, designing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating care strategies and initiatives within MHMG.
Lead a team of medical directors, coaching and mentoring to translate broader strategies into tangible day‑to‑day practice operations.
Champion efforts to standardize processes and drive continuous improvement across MHMG, aiming for consistent excellence in care delivery.
Act as a bridge in communications between senior medical group leadership and individual medical directors and operations teams.
Advocate for clinicians and the organization, ensuring the organization honors its commitments to clinicians and care team members.
Participate in leadership meetings, including the Senior Management Team, boards, and key committees to represent physician leadership at the highest levels.
Qualifications
Education: Medical or Allied Health Degree.
License/Certification: Hold an active Medical License in Maine and Board Certification in the clinical area.
Experience: A minimum of ten years of progressive leadership roles in healthcare.
