Chief of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medical Director - Kishwaukee, IL
Northwestern Medicine invites an experienced physician to serve as Chief of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medical Director at the Kishwaukee campus. The role focuses on clinical leadership, department excellence, and perioperative operations at a high-volume academic community hospital.
Responsibilities
Lead the anesthesia department: vision, strategy, and quality improvement.
Oversee perioperative operations, focusing on OR throughput and optimal use of operating rooms.
Develop, implement, and review policies, procedures, and preprinted orders.
Provide medical coverage and review questionable orders to ensure patient safety.
Recruit and onboard qualified anesthesiologists and CRNAs.
Collaborate with surgical teams, nursing, and hospital leadership on quality, safety, and staffing initiatives.
Represent the department on medical staff committees, hospital committees, and external accreditation processes.
Manage budget and resource allocation for the anesthesia services.
Qualifications
Board‑certified physician in anesthesiology (or equivalent) with current medical license.
Minimum 7 years of clinical experience in anesthesia leadership.
Strong administrative, interpersonal, and management skills.
Excellent clinical judgment, quality assessment, and knowledge of health‑care trends.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and staff.
Team‑oriented, respected by peers, and committed to continuous improvement.
Must be a practicing Northwestern Medical Group physician and a member of the Kishwaukee Medical Staff.
Leadership & Management
Participate in annual leadership training programs (e.g., ASQI).
Manage physician and CRNA activities within the practice, including status, productivity, recruitment, and relations.
Reports To Chair, Department of Anesthesiology or their representative – – Hospital CMO.
