Data Engineering & Operations Architect (Remote | Contract-to-Hire)

This is a hands‑on, non‑people management role leading architecture for data engineering and operations. You'll design scalable, modular platforms, drive data pipeline development, and implement best practices for governance, automation, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Architect enterprise data solutions and modern cloud‑based platforms
Design pipelines for real‑time and batch processing from diverse systems
Lead implementation of data quality, governance, and automation frameworks
Ensure compliance with HIPAA, GDPR, SOC‑II, etc.
Partner with stakeholders to resolve technical data challenges
Manage vendor tools and integrations
Recommend emerging technologies in data engineering and operations
Implement security and privacy practices aligned with industry standards
Tech Stack Includes: Spark, Scala, Kafka, Hive SQL, Nifi, Databricks, Snowflake, Azure Data Factory, Airflow, dbt, Fivetran, and API‑driven pipelines
Required Skills
5+ years in data engineering / operations
5+ years designing cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
Strong experience with streaming / batch ETL and healthcare claims data
Proven success in platform architecture, CI / CD, and data governance
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Fully remote. 3-month contract‑to‑hire. Opportunity to move into a management role.
