Electrical Engineer – FAA NISC – Des Plaines, IL Leidos, a Top government contractor and one of the World's Most Ethical Companies, is seeking an Electrical Engineer to provide support to the FAA Central Service Area – Engineering Services Group located in Des Plaines, IL.

Responsibilities

Plan and design electrical systems for FAA buildings and structures.

Perform on‑site surveys to develop to‑scale designs and detailed reports.

Test and analyze power systems and participate in construction inspections.

Coordinate design components with multidisciplinary teams and generate drawings, wiring diagrams and schematics.

Prepare construction drawings, site‑specific specifications, contract documents and independent cost estimates.

Perform project management tasks including safety plans, sequence of work, cutover plans.

Generate and coordinate IRMC, communication plans and risk register.

Coordinate Work Permits for asbestos and lead impacts.

Participate in pre‑construction and on‑site construction meetings with stakeholders.

Plan, schedule and coordinate construction activities to meet milestones.

Manage on‑site cutovers, testing and restoration of facilities.

Prepare and maintain project updates for team, management and stakeholders.

Review contractor design and construction submittals and perform internal design reviews of FAA power projects.

Effectively communicate in written and verbal form.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Power related degree from an accredited college/university and minimum 6 years of relevant experience (or Master’s with 5 years).

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

Experience designing 120/208V and 480V electrical systems for additions, modifications and new construction.

Extensive experience with National Electric Code and electrical trade installation methods.

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, AUTOCAD and general documentation systems.

Strong experience with AUTOCAD.

Ability to obtain Public Trust Clearance.

Travel up to 50% of the time.

Desired Qualifications

Experience supporting the FAA.

Experience with power system analysis software (EDSA Power Analytics, SKM Systems).

Experience conducting arc flash studies.

Pay Range $85,150.00 – $153,925.00
