$34.90 - $52.35 Major Responsibilities Works collaboratively with pathologists and clinical and administrative leadership to ensure laboratory services effectively support the clinical and safety initiatives of the enterprise. Assists and manages, when appropriate, in improving the quality and efficiency of laboratory procedures, policies, and processes. Demonstrates initiative in tracking and resolving problems and continually checks the accuracy of department workflows and reference laboratory test builds. Reviews relevant laboratory reports, including reference laboratory reports, for unexpected results and clerical errors before they are reported to the medical record. Acts as a resource and role model to teammates, which includes providing day-to-day work direction including providing guidance on more complex issues. Provides general direction and technical assistance to Technical Specialists, Technicians, and support staff. Assigns schedule and work for section and assists in workload evaluations as needed. Performs all duties of the technical and/or support staff. Maintains competency in all processes in defined discipline for area of responsibility. Serves as competency assessor and department subject matter expert. Assists with human resource responsibilities, which may include interviewing and recommending selection of new teammates, staff development, resolution of teammate concerns, and teammate morale. Completes orientation and training within the section. Communicates to leadership deficiencies in the section, progress of test development, teammate actions under consideration, and all unusual occurrences which may require the attention of the leader. Ensures all operations and policies are in accordance with all local, state, and federal laws, regulations, and accreditation requirements including Clinical Laboratories Improvement Act, College of American Pathologists, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Food and Drug Administration, Joint Commission, and other applicable regulatory and accrediting agencies. Develops processes to ensure continual inspection readiness. Licensure, Registration, And/or Certification Required Medical Technologist (MT/MLS) certification issued by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), or other accrediting agency OR Histotechnologist (HTL), MB (ASCP) OR Technologist in Molecular Biology CG(ASCP), or equivalent. Education Required Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences, Medical Technology or related field. Experience Required Typically requires 3 years of technical laboratory operations experience Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required Knowledge of regulatory compliance, accrediting and licensing agency requirements. Intermediate computer skills including knowledge and experience with laboratory information systems. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to handle stressful situations in a calm and professional manner. Ability to work with a minimal amount of supervision, balance multiple tasks, be detail oriented, set priorities and accomplish assignments in a timely manner. Organizational and analytical skills. Strong problem and issue resolution skills. Physical Requirements And Working Conditions This position requires travel, therefore, will be exposed to weather and road conditions. Must be willing to travel between sites within the designated market. Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job. Will be exposed to human blood and body fluids and must wear appropriate safety protection, i.e. laboratory coats, gloves, gowns and/or eye protection. Frequently lifts up to 10 lbs.
