Job Description The incumbent will:

Manage IT projects for the department, including contracted projects and special projects.

Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met and deliverables are tracked effectively.

Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.

Work closely with team members to develop new department standards, services, policies, and procedures.

Facilitate communication between team members, stakeholders, and other departments to ensure project success.

Lead development projects, coordinating both technical and business resources.

Supervise a team of programmers, providing administrative support and mentoring.

Our Organization, Mission and Culture The Department of Commerce, Community and Economic Development plays an important role in Alaska’s economy and Alaskans’ daily life. We help local governments in rural and urban Alaska provide basic services to communities. The department licenses businesses, banks, the insurance industry, and more than one hundred professions to protect consumers.

Centralized administrative support includes accounting, fiscal management, budget development, human resources, procurement, property control, contract and federal grants administration, and information technology services.

By providing quality software development, system and process analysis, and IT project management, we enable the department’s divisions to efficiently provide their services.

Who We Are Looking For

Systems Analysis/Design : Ability to interview business experts to determine processes and needs and design a system to implement those processes.

Project Management : Experience in managing IT projects, including planning, execution, and completion.

Technical Writing : Effectively documents requirements, solutions, and processes. Adjusts writing for a variety of audiences.

Stakeholder Coordination : Ability to coordinate project priorities and deliverables, ensuring effective collaboration among team members.

Self‑Management : Sets well‑defined and realistic personal goals; displays initiative, effort, and commitment toward completing assignments in a timely manner; works with minimal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications Six years of computer programming experience, of which at least two years were at the project leader or systems design level. Two years of experience must have been in a business application, scientific application, microcomputer or computer information management support specialty.

A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems, or related, may substitute for one year of required experience.
