We are seeking a

Managing Director - Development Equity

who will lead our equity investment program for major development projects, including multifamily, hospitality, tech infrastructure, entertainment‑based retail and land development. The role structures full capital‑stack solutions—combining bridge loans with equity or preferred equity—to finance projects in the US and internationally.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Sourcing and evaluation.

Identify and pursue development projects that fit the Developer Partnership Program (DPP) criteria. Build relationships with experienced developers and sponsors across the U.S. and internationally.

Deal structuring.

Structure equity and preferred‑equity investments, with equity kickers that split profits depending on project risk. For land development, limit leverage and ensure lender‑controlled interest reserves as described in the business plan. Negotiate joint‑venture agreements, shareholder agreements and springing‑interest clauses. Similar development roles require structuring capital stacks and negotiating financing terms.

Due‑diligence and risk management.

Perform comprehensive due‑diligence across market, entitlement, design and construction; oversee third‑party reports on environmental, structural and market conditions. Coordinate with legal counsel on permitting and entitlements; ensure that projects meet liquidity, reserve and experience thresholds for programmatic partnerships.

Development oversight.

Monitor the full development life‑cycle—site acquisition, design, permitting, construction, lease‑up or sale—and coordinate with project managers and construction oversight platforms (e.g., Procore, NorthSpyre). Provide regular updates to the Investment Committee; enforce budget and timeline adherence.

Team leadership.

Build and lead a team of analysts and associates; mentor staff in underwriting, market research and financial modeling; promote a collaborative and high‑performance culture.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum 10 years of experience in real‑estate development and equity investing, with a track record of executing large mixed‑use or multifamily projects.

Expertise in structuring complex capital stacks and joint‑venture agreements; proficiency in financial modeling and waterfall analysis.

Strong network of developers, brokers, lenders and institutional investors; ability to represent the firm at industry conferences and events.

Advanced degree in real estate, finance or business preferred; exceptional communication and negotiation skills.

COMPENSATION & LOCATION Hybrid Work Structure - Based in our New York City or Boston office with flexibility for partial remote work.

Compensation - Very competitive salary commensurate with experience.

Incentives - Significant upside participation potential aligned with firm and investment performance.
