Solutions Architect, AI
role at
Valence .
About Valence We're the only company pioneering leadership coaching for large enterprises in an AI‑first way. Our mission is to transform how the world's biggest companies approach learning and development, helping teams work better together through AI‑powered personalization that adapts to individual goals and organizational culture using the latest advances in machine learning and natural language processing.
The Role This role will lead enterprise customizations for Nadia—our AI coach—adapting and deploying tailored solutions for complex customer environments. You’ll design, implement, and evaluate high‑impact workflows (prompts, memory/knowledge patterns, coaching flows), balance bespoke vs. reusable architectures, and build the tooling and evaluation muscle that helps us scale enterprise AI deployments. You’ll collaborate cross‑functionally with Product, AI Research/Applied AI, and Engineering, ensuring our most advanced enterprise AI systems are safe, performant, and aligned with user outcomes. This is a hybrid role combining product sense, technical grounding, and delivery instinct—ideal for someone who loves to build, ship, and iterate.
Architect for reuse:
Identify repeatable patterns, modularize components, and define when to productize; communicate tradeoffs across speed, quality, and maintainability.
Drive quality and evaluation:
Define prompting standards, guardrails, and success metrics (accuracy, tone, safety, outcome quality). Build lightweight evaluation frameworks that scale across clients.
Make hard tradeoffs:
Balance speed vs. scalability; protect the platform from over‑engineering while ensuring customers see real value quickly.
Collaborate deeply:
Partner with Product, AI Engineering, and Coaching SMEs to deliver solutions with measurable impact.
Mentor and level up others:
Guide associates or EMs learning prompting and integration skills; contribute to playbooks, templates, and internal training.
Measure outcomes:
Track deployment speed, adoption, satisfaction, and quality; identify opportunities for reusability and efficiency gains.
What We’re Looking For
5+ years in solutions engineering, forward‑deployed engineering, or consulting engineering, ideally with enterprise‑facing experience.
LLM/AI experience:
Prompt design, evaluation, and deployment of LLM‑powered systems. Understanding of memory/knowledge retrieval and safety/guardrails.
Systems & judgment:
Track record of deciding what should be bespoke vs. reusable, designing for modularity without over‑engineering.
Enterprise craft:
Stakeholder management, discovery, and communication.
Collaborate deeply:
Partner with Product, AI Engineering, and Coaching SMEs to deliver solutions with measurable impact.
Quality mindset:
Hold the line on accuracy, safety, and performance while maintaining pragmatism.
Growth mindset:
Continuous skill development in rapidly evolving AI landscape.
Startup DNA:
Startup experience preferred with proven comfort navigating ambiguity and high‑velocity execution.
What You’ll Get
Ownership & Rapid Growth:
Outsized missions from day one, with direct responsibility for company‑defining projects.
AI‑First Operator:
Work directly with cutting‑edge AI models and next‑generation platforms; establish yourself as a recognized leader among peers.
Compensation:
Competitive salary, base + bonuses; comprehensive health coverage; generous PTO; retirement plan support.
Equity:
Meaningful ownership in a venture‑backed company at a growth inflection point; financial upside that scales fast.
Top‑Performing Culture:
Intensity to win, growth without limits, and a team that solves hard problems and celebrates big wins together.
Location and Work Environment This role is 3 days a week (Tues‑Thu) minimum in office in Union Square. Candidates must be comfortable working with colleagues in different time zones (UK), and have valid travel documents without work authorization restrictions in the US.
