Head of Civil Engineering
Location: Las Vegas, NV
Responsibilities
Lead and manage all civil engineering activities for Las Vegas operations, including site development, permitting, surveying, and utility coordination.
Oversee a growing team of 5 civil engineers and designers responsible for the planning, design, and field execution of all civil scope.
Own end-to-end civil engineering deliverables — from initial site investigations through final construction closeout — ensuring design accuracy, schedule alignment, and field readiness.
Ensure safe and precise underground work by coordinating with survey, utility locating, and tunneling teams to prevent utility conflicts and subsurface strikes.
Establish and enforce civil engineering standards, QA/QC processes, and design best practices.
Collaborate closely with tunneling, construction, mechanical, and electrical teams to resolve field issues and maintain project momentum.
Interface with local jurisdictions, permitting agencies, and contractors to maintain compliance and support timely approvals.
Mentor and develop civil engineering team members, emphasizing technical excellence, field awareness, and proactive problem solving.
Serve as Engineer of Record and review/stamp design documents.
Support cross-site coordination with other TBC locations and standardize processes company-wide.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
Current Civil Engineering PE License (in Nevada, or other states)
10+ years of progressive civil engineering experience, including field and design work.
Background in surveying, site development, or subsurface utility coordination.
Proven leadership experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and civil design workflows.
Strong understanding of grading, drainage, utilities, and land development principles.
Preferred Skills & Experience
PE Licenses in additional states.
Experience with subsurface, tunneling, or infrastructure projects.
Demonstrated ability to manage high-stakes, fast-moving projects with multiple stakeholders.
Excellent communication and technical judgment.
Hands-on approach and ability to transition seamlessly between field and office work.
Additional Requirements
Position may require extended hours and weekend work.
Ability to travel to project sites and other company locations as needed (up to 20%).
Comfortable working outdoors and in or around confined spaces.
