Senior Air Force Mission Concepts and Operations Analyst

Key Responsibilities

Air‑Centric Mission Engineering: Develop and execute Mission Engineering Studies, wargames, and tabletop exercises (TTXs) focused on the strategic and operational application of Air Power.

Air Domain Planning Expertise: Consult on air warfighting disciplines, COA analysis, strategy development, and organizational processes to craft wargames examining integrated air defense system (IADS) penetration, long‑range strike employment, and Joint All‑Domain Command and Control (JADC2) concepts.

Threat Intelligence Integration: Support planning through advice on potential threat actors and their impact on military operations, specifically concerning air superiority and integrated air and missile defense.

CONOP/CONEMP Development: Collaborate to develop Concepts of Operation (CONOPs) and Concepts of Employment (CONEMPs) measuring mission success and operational activities relying on ISR platforms and air‑ground integration.

Stakeholder Coordination: Coordinate with the Warfighter, Joint Staff, and Service Intelligence Centers to support ongoing and future operations.

Work Environment

Location: Alexandria, VA (on‑site)

Travel Requirements: Minimal 0‑10% for local meetings

Qualifications

7 years of experience in operations research with a focus on mission engineering, systems engineering, or operational analysis.

5 years of experience with mission planning and analysis, including the development or evaluation of mission threads, OPLANs, CONOPS, and CONEMPS.

3 years of experience collaborating with diverse teams, including engineering, operational planners, and technologists.

3 years of working knowledge of modeling, simulation and analysis (MS&A) techniques support operational planning or mission design in defense contexts.

2 years of experience within the military or defense sector in joint operations, combat systems, R&D, S&T, or mission planning.

Strong analytic skills with the ability to apply them in a multi‑tasking environment.

Proven written and verbal communication skills and collaborative team experience.

Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Operations Research, Statistics, Computer Science, Management Science, Physics, or advanced Professional Military Education relevant to Military Planning.

Active Top‑Secret clearance with SCI eligibility. U.S. citizenship required.

Desired

Joint/Service Staff Experience: 3+ years within an Air Force Planning Staff or Joint Staff with demonstrable experience integrating Air Force capabilities.

Strategic Writing: 3+ years developing Concept of Operations, Concept of Employment, and Intelligence Threat Briefs.

Domain Knowledge: In‑depth understanding of DoD and the United States Intelligence Community with knowledge of Air Domain Superiority doctrine, Integrated Fires, and advanced fighter/bomber force design.

Analytic Acumen and strong communication skills with collaborative team experience.

Direct experience with Air Force Force Presentation or Readiness Reporting documents, including planning and execution of Air Tasking Orders (ATO) or operational experience in an Air Operations Center (AOC).

Familiarity with MBSE or modeling and simulation applied to platform survivability, integrated air defense, or long‑range effects.

Experience as a Combatant Command or Joint Staff J5 or J3 Contingency or Campaign Planner with specific Air Component or Air Power portfolio.

JSCP and/or GFMAP build experience.

Leadership role in Major Staff Exercises incorporating significant air components.

Air Force Advanced Planning Education: Graduate of an Advanced Warfare Planning School such as SAASS, SAMS, SAW, JAWS, or MAWS.

Scheduled Weekly Hours 40hrs
