Washington, DC . This position offers the opportunity to advise leading corporations and institutions on complex environmental compliance, enforcement, and remediation matters under federal and state laws.
Candidate Profile
JD
from a
top‑tier law school
with
excellent academic credentials
Active Bar Admission
in the
District of Columbia , in good standing
5–7 years
of substantive experience in
environmental regulatory compliance
and
enforcement
matters
Deep familiarity with the
Comprehensive Environmental Response ,
Compensation , and
Liability Act
(CERCLA) and the
Resource Conservation and Recovery Act
(RCRA)
Experience with
hazardous ,
solid ,
medical ,
pharmaceutical , and/or
controlled substance waste issues
is
preferred
Soft skills: Exceptional legal writing, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple complex matters in a fast‑paced environment
Key Responsibilities
Advise clients on
compliance
with major federal and state environmental statutes, including
CERCLA
and
RCRA
Represent clients in
environmental enforcement proceedings
and
negotiations
with regulatory agencies
Counsel
clients on environmental aspects of
transactions ,
due diligence , and
risk management
Draft
and
review
environmental
reports ,
submissions , and
compliance documents
Collaborate with internal and external teams, including technical consultants and environmental engineers, to develop strategic solutions to complex issues
Support
environmental litigation
and
administrative proceedings
as needed
