The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that the products manufactured in the plant meet the required quality standards and specifications, thereby contributing to the success and competitiveness of the global automotive parts manufacturing company. Effective problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality excellence are essential for success in this role.

Their responsibilities typically revolve around implementing and maintaining quality control processes, conducting inspections, and testing, and resolving quality issues to ensure that the manufactured parts meet customer expectations.

Base pay range 100,000.00 /yr - 130,000.00 /yr

Job Responsibilities

Quality Control Processes:

responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining quality control processes and procedures to ensure that all manufacturing activities comply with quality standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements.

Inspections and Testing:

conducts inspections and performs testing on raw materials, in‑process components, and finished products to verify compliance with quality standards and specifications. This may involve visual inspections, measurements, and functional testing using various testing equipment and tools.

Statistical Process Control (SPC):

uses statistical process control techniques to monitor and analyze production processes, identify trends, and detect deviations from quality standards, helping to prevent defects before they occur.

Root Cause Analysis:

leads root cause analysis efforts to identify the underlying causes of defects or non‑conformities, manages MRB and non‑confirming materials, and implements corrective and preventive actions with cross‑functional teams.

Quality Improvement Initiatives:

drives continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, reduce defects, and optimize manufacturing processes, using lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, and other quality improvement tools.

Supplier Quality Management:

works closely with suppliers to ensure that raw materials and components meet required quality standards, conducting supplier audits, monitoring performance, and collaborating on improvement initiatives.

Documentation and Reporting:

maintains accurate documentation of quality activities, generates quality metrics, analyzes data, and prepares reports to monitor performance and identify trends or areas for improvement.

Training and Development:

provides training and support to production personnel on quality control processes and tools, enhancing quality awareness and skills.

Customer Satisfaction:

plays a key role in ensuring that products meet or exceed customer expectations for quality, reliability, and performance, working with customers to address quality concerns and implement corrective actions.

Qualifications

Education:

a bachelor's degree in engineering is usually required, with a focus on disciplines such as mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, or quality engineering.

Prior Experience:

2+ years of experience in quality engineering, quality assurance, or a related field, preferably in the automotive industry or automotive parts manufacturing.

Manufacturing Experience:

experience with manufacturing processes, production systems, and quality control methods used in automotive parts manufacturing is highly beneficial.

Knowledge of Quality Management Systems:

understanding of QMS such as ISO 9001 and automotive‑specific standards like IATF 16949, and familiarity with quality tools and methodologies such as APQP, PPAP, FMEA, and control plans.

Statistical Analysis:

proficiency in statistical analysis techniques and tools, including SPC, capability analysis, hypothesis testing, and design of experiments (DOE).

Problem‑Solving:

strong problem‑solving skills, including root cause analysis, CAPA, and 8D methodology.

Communication:

excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with cross‑functional teams, suppliers, customers, and senior management.

Attention to Detail:

strong attention to detail and accuracy in conducting inspections, analyzing data, and documenting quality activities.

Quality Tools and Techniques:

familiarity with quality tools such as Pareto analysis, fishbone diagrams, process mapping, and FMEA to identify and mitigate quality risks.

Computer Skills Proficiency in using quality management software, statistical analysis software (such as Minitab or JMP), and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
