Immediate vacancies with the Department of Accounting & General Services in Downtown.

The recruitment is conducted under the Operation Hire Hawaii (OH-HI) project, featuring an expedited hiring process and fast-tracking qualified applicants into job opportunities throughout Hawai’i.

Salary $6,090 to $6,704 per month (SR‑19, Step C to I). Salary includes Shortage Category Differential.

Hiring rates will be based on availability of funds, applicant’s qualifications, and other relevant factors.

Duties Summary This is the full performance level for building construction inspection work involving a broad range of inspection functions for a variety of construction operations, materials, and methods under varying conditions and requirements.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Legal Authorization To Work Requirement : Citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.

General Experience : TWO (2) YEARS of Journey level experience in the building construction trades, demonstrating knowledge of building construction methods, materials, safety requirements, and the ability to read and interpret blueprints and sketches.

Specialized Experience : ONE (1) YEAR of building construction inspection work experience.

Specialized Experience : ONE (1) YEAR of supervisory work experience over a force of skilled trades workers in the building construction industry that involved responsibility for interpreting plans and specifications and inspecting the quality of workmanship and materials for adherence to such plans and specifications.

Basic Experience/Education : Work experience demonstrating the ability to read and understand oral and written instructions; write simply and directly, and perform arithmetic computations.

Driver’s License : Some positions require possession of a valid driver’s license at the time of appointment.

Lift and Carry : Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted.
