Job Description
The Infrastructure Engineer role in the Mainframe OS/ISV team, within the Mainframe and Midrange Compute (MMC) organization, is responsible for planning, designing, installation, configuration, and support of highly resilient and stable Mainframe infrastructure employing automated scripting where feasible.
Responsibilities and Experience:
Deep understanding of z/OS Concepts, JCL, JES, SDSF, VSAM, Catalog Management, SMP/E, USS, Parallel Sysplex, IBM system utilities, and IBM/Broadcom CA/BMC Compuware software artifacts.
Experience with software-driven systems management using scripting languages such as JCL, REXX, Python, Unix Shell scripting, and zOSMF Workflows.
Development of automation tools, RESTful APIs, zOWE, and ZOAU for managing Mainframe infrastructure.
Ability to collaborate, think creatively, apply agile/lean philosophies, solve problems, and communicate clearly.
Qualifications:
Strong Mainframe Systems Programming knowledge.
Experience with SMP/E to install and maintain IBM and Independent Software vendor products.
Programming experience in at least one of REXX, Unix Scripting, zOSMF Workflows, Python.
Familiarity with RESTful APIs, zOWE, ZOAU.
Understanding of business technology drivers and architecture design.
