Prototek Digital Manufacturing
Sheetmetal Programmer II – Join Prototek’s sheet metal fabricating team, leading moderate programming techniques to produce accurate parts. The role trains less experienced staff in CNC laser/punching and emphasizes organization and critical thinking.
Essential Functions
Programming of moderate jobs on CNC laser/punching machine with assistance
Provide technical solutions to less experienced team members
Check prints and models using various inspection techniques
Keep a clean and orderly work area
Complete machine setup/NC sheets for all jobs programmed
Edit legacy programs and setups if needed
Multitask with frequent interruptions
Maintain file structure in database
Fill out shop request forms if tooling is needed for a project
Determine correct tooling for the job to ensure quality and lowest run time
Perform other duties as assigned
Technical Competencies
Moderate knowledge of Fabriwin programming software
Moderate knowledge of Solidworks modeling software
Moderate knowledge of production methods
Moderate knowledge of complex fixturing techniques
Moderate knowledge of shop mechanics, mathematics and measurement
Experienced working with multiple types of materials
Moderate understanding of punch tooling type

Motivation and accountability to achieve individual and department goals
Effective written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with team member

Education & Professional Experience
High School diploma or GED required
Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Technology or related field preferred
Minimum of 3 years programming and/or engineering/manufacturing experience required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to sit for extended periods of time
Use hands and fingers to operate computers, equipment, hand/power tools, etc. and handle parts of various sizes
Occasional kneeling and crouching throughout the shift
Push, pull or lift 50 lbs. moderately throughout the workday
Focus vision for close vision, color vision and depth perception
Noise conditions can be moderate to extreme; hearing protection provided if needed
Exposure to fumes and/or airborne particles
Moving mechanical parts and vibration
Fast‑paced environment
WORK HOURS
1st Shift Schedule: 5–8 hour shifts
Overtime as necessary
Flexible scheduling in agreement with supervisor
