Position Summary We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Research Scientist within the NYU Grossman School of Medicine’s Ronald O. Perelman Department of Emergency Medicine, Research Division. This Research Scientist will work in the Lab of Dr. Kelly Doran on studies examining the intersection of housing and health. The role supports NIH-funded studies, including The Impact of Housing Choice Vouchers on Health and Housing Outcomes and Preventing Overdose in Supportive Housing: Stepped Wedge Randomized Controlled Trial of a Multi-Sector, Upstream Intervention. Additional information about these studies is available on NIH Reporter. The Labs studies are community-partnered, involve both quantitative research (often large, linked administrative datasets) and qualitative research, and work closely with Study Advisory Boards including people with lived experience of housing insecurity. The Research Scientist will be critical for ensuring successful implementation and dissemination of the Labs studies. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, adept in the conduct of research, and have significant research experience.
The Research Scientist must be able to function proficiently and independently in completing qualitative research including sampling and recruitment, study logistics, conducting interviews, and analyzing qualitative research. Quantitative research skills are a bonus. The Research Scientist should be able to work autonomously, while maintaining good communication with the study PI, Program Manager, and study partners. In addition to the studies described above, the Research Scientist may assist with other studies led by Dr. Doran related to health and housing.
Job Responsibilities
Understand the big picture and ensure completion of project activities on time and with fidelity to study goals.
Communicate professionally and develop relationships with internal and external study partners.
Manage outreach and scheduling for qualitative interviews. Conduct informed consent processes. Conduct interviews and coordinate transcription. Coordinate and complete qualitative analysis tasks.
Prepare reports on study progress, including reports for the study sponsor.
Lead reports, abstracts, publications, and other dissemination products.
Lead data acquisition and storage, including completing applicable data use agreements and ensuring compliance with funder requirements for data sharing. Assist research staff with data quality monitoring.
Comply with all budget and regulatory requirements.
Contribute to a positive and respectful work environment and support team morale.
Help facilitate and develop agendas and materials for regular meetings with co-investigators, the Study Advisory Board, and others.
Assist study staff with regulatory requirements including IRB protocols, regulatory binder maintenance, CRMS submissions, and assisting with DSMB reports and meetings.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications To qualify you must have a MS degree and 2-4 years of experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Post- or pre-graduate experience working in a research/academic work setting.
Quantitative research skills, including work with large administrative datasets and complex analyses. Knowledge of coding in R, SAS, or similar.
Prior experience with program management.
Experience working with diverse teams.
Graphic design or presentation skills.
Mentoring skills (of staff and students).
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $58,500.00 - $80,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
