HS Track Assistant Coach

Kittitas Secondary School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our coaching staff as a Track Assistant Coach for the upcoming 2025-26 season. The ideal candidate will have a passion for athletics, a strong understanding of track and field events, and the ability to motivate and inspire student‑athletes. This position will support the head coach in developing athletes' skills, promoting teamwork, and ensuring a positive and competitive environment.
Responsibilities
Assist the head coach in planning and organizing daily practice sessions and training programs.
Provide instruction and guidance to student‑athletes in various track and field events, focusing on technique, strategy, and performance improvement.
Help monitor and assess athletes' progress, providing constructive feedback and encouragement.
Support the head coach in managing team logistics, including scheduling, transportation, and equipment maintenance.
Foster a positive and inclusive team culture, promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect among athletes.
Assist in the coordination of track meets and competitions, including warm‑ups, event management, and athlete readiness.
Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and school administration regarding team events, expectations, and athlete performance.
Uphold school policies and promote a safe and supportive environment for all participants.
Attend coaching meetings and professional development opportunities as required.
Requirements
Previous coaching experience or participation in track and field at the high school or collegiate level preferred.
Strong knowledge of track and field events, rules, and training techniques.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and engage student‑athletes.
Ability to work collaboratively with the head coach, athletic staff, and school administration.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
A commitment to the academic and athletic success of student‑athletes.
Availability for afternoon and evening practices, as well as weekend competitions during the track season.
Salary: 0.13% of KEA base salary schedule
