Under general supervision, performs underwriting analyses. Key Responsibilities

Assist in meeting annual department goals for profitability, renewal retention, new business growth and rate increase. Evaluate risks for acceptability within established underwriting guidelines. Clearly and effectively communicate decisions with producers and effectively respond to any ensuing inquiries. Build and maintain productive relationships with clients, producers, co-workers and any outside vendors. Respond to submissions and servicing items within agreed upon company time frames. Act within scope of authority and consistent with company and corporate objectives, guidelines, policies and practices. Ensure that effective communications are maintained within area of responsibility. Communicate and provide instruction and information to Administrative Supervisor and/or Underwriting Assistants, as required, for issuing policies and endorsements. Pursue educational classes such as Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and/or Registered Professional Liability Underwriter (RPLU), as agreed upon with management. Additional duties and special assignments, as requested by manager. Competencies

4 Year / Bachelors Degree Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, a related field, or the equivalent education and/or experience Certifications, Licenses, and Designations

Required: Studies toward attaining a Registered Professional Liability Underwriter (RPLU), Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Associate in Commercial Underwriting (AU), Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) or equivalent insurance designation depending on specialty area Preferred: state-specific insurance license depending on specialty area Other
