Primary Purpose:
To establish and maintain accurate records and the overall effectiveness of the office and to assist staff who work with students at‑risk of academic failure or dropping out of school.
Qualifications Education/Certification
High school diploma or GED
Qualify for appropriate state paraprofessional certification
Special Knowledge/Skills
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Self‑motivated and the ability to work independently without supervision
Pleasant telephone personality and effective communications skills
Bilingual helpful
Computer, typing, and clerical skills
Experience
Three (3) years’ experience working in secretarial positions
Major Responsibilities and Duties One of the primary purposes of this position is to assist in carrying out the district’s goal of improving student achievement by providing assistance to students who are at‑risk of academic failure or dropping out of school and/or staff who work with students at‑risk of academic failure or dropping out of school.
Program Management
Assist in maintaining student records.
Assist parents, students and personnel in answering questions regarding student attendance/discipline.
Type correspondence reports and inputs student discipline referrals.
Policy, Reports, and Law
Maintain data and record keeping.
Follow district established policies and procedures for support of families.
Other
Maintain confidentiality.
Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
Maintain an appropriate level of technology competence to meet the current and future needs of Alief.
Implement alternative methods of instruction as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities None
Evaluation Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of Non-Instructional Paraprofessional Personnel.
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals
Posture: Standing, prolonged sitting, occasional kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing pulling, and twisting
Motion: Repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching; may also require climbing stairs and reaching over head
Lifting: Moderate lifting and carrying (up to 15 pounds); May require occasional heavy lifting and carrying (15-45 pounds)
Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; possible district wide travel; all campuses are temperature controlled with hard surface floors
Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress

2025‑2026 Salary Range Min. $23,065 Mid. $27,349 Max. $31,634 (Based on previous experience)
Salaries are determined by the number of completed and eligible years of service at an accredited school.
Salary is based on 187 days. If working less than 187 days, the salary will be less.
