The Senior Auditor role in the Advisory service line within Corporate Audit brings diverse global expertise and skills to help Chevron address its most challenging business risks and create lasting value in our fast-changing world. The current focus of the advisory team is on the ESG & New Country entry space, including Chevron’s lower carbon strategy, but we also provide coverage to the traditional and new & emerging businesses, depending on business need and evolution.

The Advisory team operates independently from the Assurance service line, giving them greater flexibility to tailor the duration of engagements to each unique business challenge. We leverage agile and iterative approaches, partnering closely with clients to define success, with a focus on proactively protecting and growing value for the business.

To deliver value, the Sr Auditor deploys a broad range of advisory tools (Risk Assessments, Control Self Assessments, benchmarking exercises, among others) and collaboration methods, which can include design thinking and less structured facilitation. The advisor will generate and work on a variety of engagements across different segments of the organization.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

Advises customers by using their knowledge, experience, and analytical skills to add value to the customer’s business or propose solutions relevant to the customer’s needs

Identifies new and emerging risks to the company

Evaluates effectiveness and efficiency of internal control systems, risk management, and governance processes across a wide variety of business units, functions, and operations

Effectively identifies risk exposures and applies risk assessment techniques to differentiate risk level and recommends mitigation options for unstructured engagements

Considers a variety of internal and external viewpoints in order to assess and understand issues and draw conclusions

Collaborates on advisory team activities and exercises critical thinking and sound judgment in recommending scope changes to optimize value of each engagement

Applies digital & AI skills and uses data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI) to analyze large data sets in order to distill, illustrate, and communicate key risks and recommendations

Facilitates meetings with diverse clients, including senior leaders, to explain the advisory process, and build understanding of recommendations presented in the advisory report

Presents data in a variety of formats (e.g., pictorial, graphic, verbal, etc.) to clearly and effectively communicate meaningful insights and/or recommendations to diverse audiences in a way that moves them to action

Collaborates with all levels of the organization and works well with diverse teams with cross‑functional expertise

Key Considerations

Position is located in Houston, TX

Hybrid work model: four days in-office, one day remote. 9/80 work schedule supported

Flexibility to travel 5-15% of the year for on‑site advisory engagements within or outside the US

Interest in future Chevron assignments as part of the broader Finance, Planning or Commercial Function and/or embedded positions within Upstream, Midstream, Downstream and other support functions

Desired Qualifications

Bachelor’s or higher degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Engineering or similar discipline

5+ years of work experience

2+ years of relevant experience in Consulting or Advisory roles in large national/multi‑national firms or Big Four audit firm

Energy and/or ESG, business development, M&A integration, divestments experience considered a plus

CPA and/or MBA considered a plus

Digital, data analytics, advanced data visualization or AI skills considered a plus

Consulting: ability to engage well with stakeholders to define value proposition, quickly assimilate new information, understand key business processes, apply a risk‑based mindset and approach, and develop and deliver a thoughtful and well‑presented set of recommendations relevant to the customer’s needs. Strong understanding and application of risk and controls. Ability to efficiently mine and analyze large data sets to understand business and value drivers. Experienced at designing quantitative and qualitative analysis to draw conclusive and compelling insights.

Critical Thinking: finds ways to demonstrate clear value and make strategic decisions based on evidence, internal and external viewpoints, and data‑driven analysis. Demonstrates creative problem‑solving skills to find fresh perspectives, original ideas, and innovative solutions.
