Technical Accounting Leadership
Oversee the application of technical accounting standards and ensure compliance with GAAP and other applicable regulations. Provide guidance on complex accounting issues, including revenue recognition, lease accounting, and financial instruments. Lead the implementation of new accounting standards and ensure the organization is prepared for changes in accounting regulations. External Reporting
Manage the preparation and review of all external financial reports, including quarterly and annual reports (10-Q, 10-K), ensuring accuracy and compliance with SEC requirements. Collaborate with internal and external auditors to ensure timely and accurate filings. Ensure consistency and transparency in external financial communications. Internal Controls and Compliance
Develop, implement, and maintain robust internal control processes to ensure the integrity of financial reporting. Monitor compliance with internal accounting policies and procedures, as well as external regulatory requirements. Conduct regular reviews and audits to identify and mitigate risks associated with financial reporting. Team Leadership and Development
Lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development. Provide training and support to the accounting team on technical accounting matters and regulatory updates. Promote a collaborative and high-performance work environment. Strategic Financial Planning
Partner with senior leadership to provide technical accounting insights and support strategic financial planning initiatives. Contribute to the development and execution of the company’s financial strategy, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives. Assist in M&A activities, including due diligence and integration of acquired entities. Stakeholder Communication
Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors, regulators, and other stakeholders on technical accounting and reporting matters. Communicate complex accounting issues and financial results to senior management and the board of directors. Ensure clear and effective communication of financial information to investors and analysts. Continuous Improvement
Stay abreast of industry trends and changes in accounting standards to ensure the company remains compliant and competitive. Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices in financial reporting and technical accounting. Special Projects
Lead and participate in special projects and initiatives as required, providing technical accounting expertise and support. Collaborate with cross-functional teams on various projects to ensure alignment with financial reporting objectives. Minimum Requirements
B.S. in Accounting + CPA. MBA preferred. 15+ years of progressive experience in accounting and finance. Expertise in technical accounting and internal control. Demonstrated experience in SEC reporting and SOX compliance. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Insurance and/or health care industry experience preferred. Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment with tight deadlines. For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 236,900 - 355,300 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.
