L.K. McLean Associates (LKMA) is a 80-person firm, which includes 20 individuals licensed as professional engineers, land surveyors, architects or landscape architects.
The trademark of all projects, whether large or small, is the active involvement of one of the principals of the firm. We believe this personalized service, along with the completion of projects both on time and within budget, is responsible for the continued success of the firm.
LKMA serves many governmental and private clients on a continual basis from our offices located in the Hamlet of Brookhaven, NY and our satellite office in Hicksville, NY.
Who You Are LKMA is seeking highly motivated site/civil engineers to join our growing firm in our Brookhaven, NY office. The ideal candidate will have between 3-7 years of experience in land development projects and be committed to the advancement of their career.
What You'll Do
Collaborate with team members to perform the design, computation, and evaluation of various land development projects in a supportive, encouraging environment
Develop concise Construction Documents, including Technical Specifications
Enhance your technical site design knowledge and sharpen your communication skills
Provide permitting assistance to navigate projects through various municipal entitlements
Prepare hydrologic and hydraulic calculations and be knowledgeable of NYSDEC stormwater management and SWPPP requirements
Provide construction support services, including review of shop drawings, submittals, and RFI’s
Apply technical design skills and utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D to support the design of full site plan packages, including site planning, grading and drainage design, sanitary design, lighting design, soil erosion and sediment control planning, and SWPPPP reporting
Provide thorough Quality Assurance and Quality Control on all of your work
What You Bring
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field
EIT desirable; PE license a plus
Strong computer skills including practical experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and the full Microsoft Office Suite
3-7 years experience in site/civil design and land development
Proficient in Conceptual Planning, Site Planning, Grading, Drainage, Sanitary and Soil Erosion and Sediment Control Design
A passion for problem solving, and a can‑do attitude
The ability and eagerness to learn quickly
Strong work ethic
Strong organization and oral/written communication skills
Ability to work independently as well as in a dynamic, team‑based environment
Experience with working on several projects at the same time
Understanding of the approved scope of work under a Professional Service Contract/Proposal
The ability to train/mentor younger staff in sound engineering practice, judgement, and design

Salary range: $85,280-$115,000 annually
