What you’ll be doing: As a Senior Product Design Engineer, you are responsible for supporting the full product development lifecycle with the creation of state-of-the-art product structures & mechanisms. This role would include supporting program planning, design definition, 3D CAD, 2D CAD, concept design, model rendering, product testing, & rapid prototyping.

Lead front-end concept generation and translate ideas into a manufacturable design.

Populate various mechanical development work products to define the mechanical architecture such as requirements, production specifications, service specifications, validation & verification specifications, test procedures, etc.…

Create detailed CAD models and assemblies with a focus on molded components produced from molding technologies such as injection molding, castings, thermoforming, resin transfer molding, vacuum forming, compressing molding, etc.…

Support cable management & component mounting strategies based on internal guidelines.

Support the production of 2D component drawings with appropriate GD&T.

Research & present various manufacturing methods in effort to reduce product costs while maintaining structural integrity.

Establish & test joint torque specification to achieve appropriate clamping load as needed.

Design & build test fixtures for executing product validation efforts.

Fabricate production intent rapid prototypes as needed using the model shop machinery.

Support marketing efforts with 3D rendering & fabrications.

Operates CNC machines for component & mold creation.

What you’ll bring:

B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent technical field experience.

Minimum of 10 years producing mechanical components in a product development environment.

Expertise in working with CAD platforms such as SolidWorks.

Expertise in CAD to CAM integrations.

Expertise in additives, resins, & component aesthetics.

Proficiency with various fabrication tools for creation of prototypes. (Ex. Table saws, CNC machines, 3D printers, belt sanders, heat bending, vacuum forming, casting, lathe, mills, etc.…)

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Exposure to various manufacturing methods based on materials such as metals, composites, & plastics.

Proficiency in designing class A surface components.

Proficiency in designing solutions for various seam & edge treatment applications.

Preferred qualifications:

Mastery knowledge of GD&T based on manufacturing methods.

Understanding of ASME Y14/ANSI Y14 standards.

Experience with rendering in SolidWorks Visualize.

Experience designing components utilizing various forming methods such as RIM, ROTO, thermoforming, vacuum forming, casting, compression, resin transfer, etc.…

Experience designing components utilizing various metal fabrication methods such weldments, CNC routing/milling, laser cutting, stamping, hot/cold rolling, bending, extruding, etc.…

Experience working with regulatory bodies such as NSF for food grade sanitization.
