HR Generalist
Position located in Richmond, Indiana

We are seeking a dedicated HR Generalist to support our Richmond, Indiana manufacturing operations. This new role will provide comprehensive HR services to a diverse workforce of regular and temporary employees, playing a key part in driving HR initiatives that align with organizational goals. The HR Generalist will be responsible for a wide range of functions, including employee relations, talent and staffing management, compliance with employment laws, and supporting talent management processes. The ideal candidate will bring exceptional interpersonal skills, sound judgment, and a solid understanding of HR practices and regulations to help maintain a positive workplace culture.
Position Responsibilities Employee Relations & Support
Provide day-to-day guidance to managers and employees on HR policies, procedures, and best practices
Partner with leadership to foster a positive work environment that aligns with company culture and values
Serve as the primary point of contact for employee relations, addressing workplace concerns, resolving conflicts by conducting workplace investigations, and ensuring fairness in all interactions
Talent & Staffing
Manage the Temporary Staffing agency and partner with hiring managers to understand staffing needs and develop proactive recruiting strategies
Create engaging and visually appealing job advertisements for manufacturing positions, tailored for both job postings and social media platforms
Conduct new hire orientation sessions and ensure a smooth and effective onboarding experience for all new employees
Coordinate the application process for internal opportunities / movement within the organization
Support company-wide projects aimed at strengthening employee recruitment and retention initiatives
Performance Management
Coordinate and track the employee performance review process, including probationary and annual evaluations
Collaborate with managers to implement performance management processes, including coaching, disciplinary actions, and performance improvement plans
Identify training needs by consulting with managers and coordinate employee training programs, such as leadership development, safety training, and compliance workshops
Support career development initiatives by promoting available learning opportunities and programs
Track succession planning and training initiatives, including work-based learning, apprenticeships and skill acknowledgment programs
Plant & Community Engagement
Support positive employee engagement and retention initiatives, including developing and coordinating company events, recognition programs, appreciation activities and surveys
Collect and analyze employee feedback to recommend improvements in engagement and retention strategies
General HR Support & Compliance
Administer and manage employee leave programs, including Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), short-term disability, Workers’ Comp, etc
Participate in production meetings and contribute HR insights to plant leadership
Support hearing tests, safety initiatives, and other compliance-related plant programs
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, as well as company policies and procedures
Maintain accurate and confidential employee records, ensuring compliance with legal and organizational requirements
Process employee terminations, including exit interviews, final pay coordination, and proper documentation
Serve as the Payroll backup, using ADP Workforce Manager/Workforce Now
Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field, or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience preferred
2+ years of HR experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment
SHRM certification preferred
ADP Workforce systems experience is helpful
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office
Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively communicate in writing and verbally in a courteous and professional manner with others
Strong attention to detail, including the ability to prioritize tasks and handle multiple projects simultaneously
Driven to perform at a high level, taking initiative and applying personal dedication to achieve the best possible results
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment
