JOB SUMMARY
The Material Handler is responsible for efficiently loading and unloading trucks, transporting materials, and maintaining inventory accuracy to support smooth warehouse and production operations. This position involves operating forklifts and other material-handling equipment safely while ensuring compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory standards. The shift for this role is 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM.
Key Responsibilities Material Handling & Storage Pull finished goods from storage areas to prepare for shipping and distribution. Put away raw materials into designated storage areas to maintain organization and accessibility. Safely drive and operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment to transport products efficiently. Maintain accurate storage of raw materials, intermediates, and finished goods to ensure timely supply for production needs. Consolidate and organize warehouse and outside storage areas to optimize space and improve workflow. Shipping & Receiving
Load and unload trucks safely and efficiently to meet delivery and production schedules. Understand and follow pick lists and Bills of Lading (BOLs) to ensure accurate order fulfillment. Operate pumps for off-loading tankers in a safe and compliant manner. Follow shipping regulatory requirements such as DOT, DHS, TSCA, and CT-PAT to ensure legal compliance and shipment integrity. Inventory & Quality Control
Follow standard operating procedures for inventory handling, staging, and verification of incoming and outgoing shipments. Identify and manage returned, damaged, or obsolete materials to maintain accurate inventory control. Perform set-up and clean-up tasks to support efficient operations and product quality. Safety & Compliance
Actively participate in safety programs, 5S initiatives, and complete required daily checklists to promote a safe working environment. Maintain a clean and organized work area by following PPE and safety procedures consistently. Participate in Health & Safety, Security, and Environmental (HS&E) activities including SAFE meetings, BBS observations, and housekeeping tasks. Follow all OSHA, environmental, and company standards to ensure compliance and prevent workplace hazards. Level of Autonomy (Decision Making and Independent Judgment)
May follow written procedures and complete tasks authorized by training or standard operating procedures. Authorized to halt work for identified safety or quality concerns until corrective actions are implemented. Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; must be at least 18 years of age. Forklift certification required. Prior warehouse or logistics experience preferred. Strong reading comprehension and basic math skills. Effective communication and teamwork abilities. Safety-conscious with consistent adherence to PPE and safety protocols. Ability to follow directions and use sound judgment in independent decision-making. Self-motivated with high standards for quality and performance. Positive attitude and flexibility to adapt to changing work requirements. Ability to work cooperatively with diverse personalities and departments.
