Customer Service- Transportation Job at BCForward in Indianapolis

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare, review, and process tax filings related to transportation operations, including IFTA (fuel tax) and IRP (vehicle registration).
• Support and process oversized/overweight (OS/OW) vehicle permits and other transportation-related permits.
• Analyze vehicle, mileage, and fuel data for accuracy and compliance.
• Communicate with state DOT and permitting agencies regarding filings, renewals, and compliance requirements.
• Maintain accurate tax and permit documentation in line with federal and state guidelines.
• Reconcile fuel usage, tax data, and fleet records across multiple jurisdictions.
• Assist in maintaining up-to-date knowledge of transportation tax and permitting regulations.
• Collaborate with accounting, compliance, and operations teams to ensure accurate reporting and timely submissions.
• Provide audit support and respond to inquiries from internal departments or external agencies.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Tax Analyst, Tax Specialist, or Permit Analyst within a transportation, logistics, or trucking environment.
• Strong understanding of IFTA, IRP, OS/OW permits, and regulatory filings.
• Familiarity with state and federal transportation tax regulations.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with ERP or accounting systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar).
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
• High attention to detail and accuracy in reporting.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior experience coordinating with Department of Transportation (DOT) or INDOT for vehicle or route compliance.
• Knowledge of fuel tax compliance software or transport management systems.
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
