St. John's School
Overall purpose is to advance the mission of St. John’s School. Will be a member of the Communications team. Primary focus is on school communications, both all‑school and divisional. However, some Advancement‑related communications will be a part of the job, supporting fundraising and alumni affairs.
Education and/or Experience
Must have at minimum a Bachelor’s degree.
Strong candidates will have a technical background, including html coding and page building, as well as strong organizational skills, be proactive and self‑motivated with a meticulous eye for detail.
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite as well as the ability to upload web content and build webpages on the St. John’s website is a necessity. Background should include electronic social media experience with Facebook, Instagram, X, and online content management systems. Graphic design and materials layout experience is preferred.
The ability to establish and maintain strong rapport quickly is critical as well as the ability to work effectively with the Technology team, faculty and staff, volunteers, and vendors.
Candidates must possess demonstrated ability to organize, set priorities, and complete work in a timely manner, often working with multiple deadlines and competing requirements. In addition, the position requires excellent interpersonal communication skills.
Language Skills
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of people.
Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from members of the community.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to work with mathematical concepts, make statistical inferences, and review data for trend analysis.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Production of school divisional monthly newsletters (electronic) as well as occasional collection of stories, writing, editing, proofing for various publications – both electronic and print.
Support design and execution of various communications including, but not limited to, social media posts, push pages, and digital invitations.
Support the execution of printed publications to enhance the visibility and brand identity of St. John’s School. Writing and editing pieces such as feature articles, stewardship materials, web content, and other communications for multiple platforms, including print, email, web, and social media.
Collaborate with the Associate Director of Communications to help oversee the communications production schedule and produce materials on time and on budget.
Continuously update the content of the School website—including articles and photos— as well as help to oversee the functionality of the website.
Some photography and video coverage of various school events for marketing purposes.
Ensure all communications produced adhere to School brand and style guidelines.
Ability to balance multiple deadlines in an often fast‑paced work environment.
