Construction Estimator Job at Scott Humphrey Corporation in Denver

Overview We are hiring a Construction Estimator to support preconstruction efforts for ground-up and renovation projects within the restaurant and retail sectors. Projects typically include quick-service restaurants (QSR), full-service dining establishments, and national retail chains, ranging from $500K to $5M in value. This role is ideal for an Estimator who thrives in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment and is capable of producing accurate, competitive estimates while working closely with internal teams, subcontractors, and clients. Key Responsibilities Prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial restaurant and retail projects from schematic through final construction documents Analyze drawings, specifications, and other documents to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor bids across multiple trades Develop and maintain project budgets, quantity takeoffs, and scope clarifications Collaborate with project managers and preconstruction teams to align estimates with project goals and timelines Maintain an up-to-date database of historical costs, subcontractor pricing, and market trends Participate in value engineering and cost-saving opportunities without compromising design intent or quality Support the transition from preconstruction to construction, ensuring continuity and accuracy in scope and budget Ideal Candidate Will Have Direct estimating experience in restaurant and/or retail construction, including both ground-up and tenant improvement scopes Familiarity with QSR and franchise buildouts, full-service dining, and national retail programs Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and local cost factors Proficiency with estimating software such as Sage Estimating, PlanSwift, Bluebeam, or equivalent tools Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously Effective communication skills for coordinating with internal teams, clients, and subcontractors Comfortable working in a collaborative environment with a focus on accuracy, speed, and delivering competitive bids across multiple ongoing opportunities Employment details Seniority level: Mid-Senior level Employment type: Full-time Job function: General Business Industries: Construction, Building Construction, and Real Estate Location Denver, CO area; includes Aurora, Thornton, Lakewood, Centennial, Broomfield, Englewood Note We’re unlocking community knowledge in a new way.
