Locum Anesthesiologist Opportunity - Fredericksburg, VA (Float Pool) Assignment Overview
  • Start Date: March 2, 2026
  • Commitment: Full-time - 50 hours per week
  • Schedule: Monday through Friday
  • Shifts: 12-hour blocks (7 AM - 7 PM and 7 PM - 7 AM for nights/weekends)
  • Weekend Availability: Preferred but not required
  • Setting: Floating between three locations within close proximity
Licensure & Certifications
  • Virginia Medical License: Required at time of submission
  • Certifications Required (AHA):
  • ACLS
  • BLS
  • PALS
Practice Model
  • Medical Direction Model: 1 MD to 3 CRNAs
  • CRNA Scope: Limited regional - only spinals and epidurals authorized
  • Blocks:
  • CRNAs: Not authorized
  • MDs: Preferred to perform (e.g., supraclavicular, popliteal), but not required
  • MDs must be willing to do solo cases as needed Clinical SitesLocation One - Level II Trauma Center
  • 16 ORs, 2 OB, 8 Endo, Cath Holding, IR, ED
  • 24/7 staffing model:
  • 1 MD in-house
  • 1 Cardiac MD on call
  • 2 CRNAs in-house with backup on call
  • Case types:
  • Open hearts, trauma, OB, thoracic, ortho, endoscopy, organ harvest (no transplants), healthy pediatrics Location Two - Outpatient Surgery Center (adjacent to hospital)
  • 6 ORs
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday only (no weekends)
  • Case types: Healthy peds (ENT, dental), ortho, bread-and-butter
  • Blocks: MDs must be able to perform
  • Staffing: 2 MDs, 6 CRNAs Location Three - Community Hospital (8 miles from Location One)
    • 6 ORs, 1 OB, 1 Endo
    • Not a trauma center - critical cases diverted to Location One
    • Heavy OB focus
    • Staffing: 2 MDs, 6 CRNAs (24-hour in-house coverage, no backup call)
