Position Summary CVS Health is looking for a creative, hands‑on, technically skilled Staff Software Development Engineer with a passion for building intuitive, accessible, and intelligent solutions. This role is part of our Aetna Technology organization, focused on modernizing the ID Card system through a seamless blend of front‑end innovation, cloud‑native architecture, and Vision AI capabilities on GCP and Azure. You will lead the design and development of responsive, accessible, and high‑performance UIs that integrate with intelligent back‑end services, enabling real‑time document processing, personalization, and automation, directly impacting how millions of members interact with their digital healthcare identity.
Responsibilities
Lead the development of modern, scalable, and accessible web applications for ID card management and delivery.
Write code, develop software components, microservices, and implement complex functionalities according to project requirements.
Collaborate with engineering teams and stakeholders to build and ensure scalability, performance, and maintainability of digitally secure platform solutions.
Work with the team to decompose an existing monolithic application into scaling and high‑performance components.
Mentor engineers and promote a culture of design thinking, code quality, and continuous learning.
Required Qualifications
7+ years of experience with Java, Spring, JUnit, APIs using Spring Boot, and Microservices Architecture.
7+ years of experience with Kubernetes, SOAP services, IntelliJ, and DevOps: Git, Jenkins, GitHub Actions.
7+ years of experience with SQL and NoSQL database technologies.
7+ years deploying and managing applications in cloud environments (preferably Google Cloud).
7+ years experience building and operating large‑scale distributed systems.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with React.js: Strong understanding of React concepts, hooks, component lifecycle, and ecosystem libraries.
3+ years experience with GCP Vision AI, Azure Computer Vision.
Member and enrollment Healthcare and ID card experience.
Ability to work independently and part of a team.
GCP, GKE, and MongoDB experience.
Education
Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience (HS diploma + 4 years relevant experience).
Pay Range $118,450.00 – $284,280.00. This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full‑time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short‑term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
