Job Summary
Physician – Hematology/Oncology position with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs at the St. Cloud VA Health Care System. The role serves Veterans in community‑based outpatient clinics (CBOC) located in Brainerd, Alexandria, and Montevideo, MN.
Location and Travel The primary office is Alexandria, MN. The physician must travel at least 75% of the time among the three CBOC locations.
Duties and Responsibilities
Provide consultation services and follow‑up for Primary Specialty Medicine patients in the outpatient setting.
Participate in special projects and strategic initiatives as needed.
Offer clinical oversight and review for mid‑level providers.
Submit timely documentation and enter progress notes for all patients.
Maintain quality of care meeting professional standards at all times.
Work within privileges except in emergencies.
Perform additional duties as assigned.

50‑55 days per year (26 regular days, 13 sick days, 11 federal holidays, optional CME absence).

Licensure and Eligibility
U.S. citizenship required (non‑citizens only when no qualified U.S. citizen is available).
Full, unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia.
Board certification or eligibility in Internal Medicine AND Hematology/Oncology.
Completion of an ACGME or AOA accredited residency in Hematology/Oncology (or equivalent).
Proficiency in written and spoken English.
Successful background/security investigation and physical examination.
Compliance with mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination and other VA health‑related prerequisites.
Qualifications
Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from an accredited medical school.
Current, full medical license in the U.S.
Board certification (or eligibility) in Internal Medicine and Hematology/Oncology.
Residency training approved by the VA in Hematology/Oncology.
Evidence of 5+ years of U.S. clinical practice, if residency was completed abroad.
Demonstrated competency in patient care for Veterans.
Preferred Experience
Direct experience treating hematologic and oncologic conditions.
Physical Requirements
Heavy lifting (45 lb or more) and moderate carrying up to 45 lb.
Repeated standing, walking, and intermittent kneeling or bending.
Vision correction required 13–16 in Jaeger 1–4; far vision 20/40.
Acceptable hearing (aide permitted).
Mental and emotional stability.
Education and Training
MD or DO from a U.S. medical school accredited by LCME or AOA for the year of graduation.
Foreign medical graduates must have ECFMG certification or equivalent foreign school accreditation.
Residency must be ACGME/ACGME‑approved for Hematology/Oncology.
